The classic seamed tights dates back to the nylons of the 1940s where the leg was manufactured by stitching the seam together down the back. Today the seam is a fashion choice rather than a manufacturing necessity.
The original backseam lead to the craze among women (here in the UK) who couldn't afford the new nylons to draw a pencil line down the back of their leg. Thankfully today seamed tights are much more affordable, and so as a trend the seamed tights have evolved.
Most popular remains the single back seam, but this is now made available in fishnets as well as sheer tights. In addition though, there are multi-seam tights, where the mock seam is repeated and then there are also mock seams of various designs where the seam is made from a pattern down the back of the leg. As ever PinUp Nylons has brought together a wide selection of colours and sizes, so as to offer the best choice of seamed tights, in addition to the back seam stockings we also stock.
